Yeah, I thought Numb/Encore was a great song, and that would've been great for the MV soundtrack, but what can ya do??

BTW, has ANYBODY figured out if Crockett's Theme, remake or not, has been confirmed in the movie? That would've been nice too...
Hey, Hey, Hey, don't talk like that man, you're gonna hurt his feelings. -Crockett to Tubbs regarding Elvis

I'm sure this is a lock. Although, it should be noted that there were a handful of important tracks missing from Heat's OST, as well as a couple from Collateral.

The two tracks are fairly old. "Anthem" utterly reaks of early 90s techno (All jumpy beats and no substance), which pales in comparison to his later work. It will either be background music in a club scene or an action set-piece. Methinks! Ermm

I really wanted to see Moby's "Snowball" on the soundtrack.  It's about as Mikey Mannish a track as you'll hear.

EDIT: As it turns out, Moby remixed "Anthem" on his 90s compilation album "Everything Is Wrong". That's actually the version which is on the soundtrack. I've just listened to the update and it's far superior to the original. I'm now glad it's included in the film....Sounds Good!

Btw, you can hear the music during the scene where Crockett's talking to Isabella on the phone.

From what I've heard so far, it's obviously a mixed bag.

Thumbs Up

"We're No Here" Mogwai

"Auto Rock" Mogwai

"Anthem" Moby (Cinematic Version)

"Strict Machine" Goldfrapp

"New World In My View" King Britt

"Blacklight Fantasy" Freaky Chakra

"Sweep" Blue Foundation

"Ramblas" King Britt

Thumbs Down

"In The Air Tonight" Nonpoint

"Sinnerman (Felix Da Housecat's Heavenly Remix)" Nina Simone

"Ready For Love" India.Arie
(HATE IT!)

The MV soundtrack is more of a Collateral than a Heat. Definately a case of the good, the not so good (Disappointed in the Moby picks) and the indifferent. Surely some of the early work RZA contributed will turn up in the flick.

You can tell that Mann did have a few problems compiling the music on this one. If you listen to Heat, it's almost like he had the non-original music picked out and stored in his noggin at least 5 years before the shoot began. I honestly can't say that about any of his recent films.

i did a little research for the songs and here is what i found

1. "In The Air Tonight" Nonpoint  - i like their version
2. "One Of These Mornings" Moby feat. Patti LaBelle - this is already released song and it is nice to listen to (slow chilling )
3. "We're No Here" Mogwai - hard rock
4. "Sinnerman (Felix Da Housecat's Heavenly Remix)" Nina Simone - this one is great !!! House
5. "Auto Rock" Mogwai - very interesting instrumental (post rock)
6. "Arranca" Manzanita - latino
7. "Ready For Love" India.Arie - very nice ballad (probably for the love scenes)
8. "Strict Machine" Goldfrapp - electronica/dance/rock
9. "Pennies In My Pocket" Emilio Estefan
10. "New World In My View" King Britt
11. "Sweep" Blue Foundation - this one is promising - suspense 10 min.(Abstract, Trip Hop)
12. "Anthem" Moby - sounds like old techno :((
13. "Blacklight Fantasy" Freaky Chakra - this one is better Electronica/Dance
14. "Mercado Nuevo" John Murphy
15. "Who Are You" John Murphy
16. "Ramblas" King Britt
17. "A-500" Klaus Badelt & Mark Batson

if these are the official songs i think it is a nice collection and will suit the movie just fine Big smile

the last four songs must be new once  specially for the soundtrack ,but i might be wrong

and here is the cover from amazon

thats good to hear then.  i like a good deal of rap and i love numb/encore but rap really needs to stay away from this flick.  collateral had an awesome score and this looks to be the same!

I'm convinced that's the genuine soundtrack listing.

Obvious Standouts

Mogwai

King Britt (Adventures in Lo-Fi)

Blue Foundation

Moby

The inclusion of two tracks from Scotland's very own Mogwai is huge. They're hands down one of greatest bands of the last 10 years, and I've yet to meet a single person who doesn't love their music.  I got into them around 1999 after a mate loaned me a couple of their CDs.

In fact, I'm willing to bet that most people will come out of the theater wanting to know who did that that piano track ("Auto Rock"). I can't imagine this won't be up during a major part of the film.

King Britt is also a decent addition. He's done some good stuff.

Btw.....NO GANGSTER RAP!

Does that list say Patti Labelle? If so, that's encouraging, she's a legend!

Thanks TVF.
I see Emilio Estefan is in there somewhere.
Some of these other artists I've never heard of, but I guess "I'm Just a Redneck In A Rock & Roll Bar", so to speak.
"Everbody comes back here. This is the Sunshine State."
