Thanks Tony, It's a labor of love.  My dream is to someday have all the episodes published having been to every location in person.  Someday.

I was just working on this episode for my web site.  There was one location that has been eluding and bothering me for some time.  The phone booth where they make contact with the kidnapper near the end of the episode.  I decided to take another stab at it since I think practice has made my location detecting skills better than the last time I had worked on this episode.  It worked. Through process of elimination using the street layout and the height of the metro rail I finally figured out where this was filmed.  Now I wonder why it took me so long to get it.  SE 6th Street by Associated Photo.  It seems so easy now that I know it.

My recent trip to San Juan, PR; here are a few of the cemetery:

I'll create a post for all of my pics later this week (either in Miami Vice Travel or Off Topic).

SoFlaJeremy knows it. He visited San Juan, and used some photos for location trivia.

link

I think the cemetery in his photo is Cementerio de Santa Maria Magdalena, which is at the western end of the San Juan peninsula at the end of Calle San Miguel Road. You can see what I mean by looking on VE (http://maps.live.com/).

Is anyone familiar with any of the filming locations used in San Juan, Puerto Rico for "Smugglers Blues"?  It doubled for Cartagena, Colombia in that episode.  I'm going to San Juan next month.

I hadn't studied it too closely, but I had been thinking it was on Brickell Key or Brickell point.

Rick Bravo hepped me to the Biscaya as the location for Smuggler's Blues some time ago. I thought it was another building downtown but he set me right on this one. That is another classic Miami Beach structure that should still be standing. No thanks to the likes of Abe Resnick, many historic Miami beach buildings are gone.

What amazes me is that Dade Boulevard was rechristened Abe Resnick Boulevard -  I refuse to accept that, so any time we are discussing that area I for one will always defer to the original name of Dade Boulevard, if only in protest.

The further irony is that this monster Resnick gets a whole boulevard named after him when he is responsible for more destruction of the Deco district than anything else while Barbra Capitman, who fought tirelessly to preserve Miami Beach's historic buildings, only gets a stretch of 10th Street between Ocean and Collins drives as a tribute. That's just not right, folks.

West & 5th. Interesting, that was near the Biscaya HOtel at 650 West Ave that was also torn down and was used in "Trust fund pirates" as the abandoned building with the druggies.

Hello people,

These maps are just mad.

I'm heading over to Miami next weekend to watch the new movie - was planning on hunting out some of the original locations - I only got a couple of days so time is precious. The stuff on these threads is a major bonus.

Keep up the good work chaps.

That's kool. It's great that they used the proper geography of the city in the final scene with the trailer blowing. makes it all the more real. Nice one for finding it.
